Why You Want a Sage Standard Poodle
The poodle is a very versatile breed with a zest for life and an eager to please attitude. They can excel in all dog sports and make an incredible therapy dog. They have a better than average nose for scent tracking and can even be used for K9 SAR work. They love Agility and Rally-O but tend to find regular 'obedience' rather boring. A poodle can excel at hunting as well as herding. Jumping fences, opening gates and climbing ladders is easy for a poodle, making them a top choice entertainment dog because they love to perform. They are super smart, with a very sensitive nature and a huge retention of human vocabulary. A poodles playful side stays with them for life.
Poodles are non-shedding and hypo-allergenic, therefore a great choice for allergy sufferers and those that do not enjoy cleaning up dog hair from everywhere.
This is a hobby for us. Our dogs are our pets. This means we take the time with our dogs and puppies to do all we can to see they have a good start to their temperament and socialization.
We do developmental exercises as outlined by Pat Hastings book, "Puppy Development". These help the puppies with behavior and temperament development. Every week starting at week one we do exercises with the puppies throughout each developmental stage; to help them learn and grow into puppies ready for their forever homes with the best foundation to be trained by you and your family into the pet you want.
We have also integrated Puppy Culture into the puppies socialization program and hope to add Savvy Socialization in 2021.
We start grooming at week five. Every week they are bathed, combed, toe nails clipped and blow dried. Starting at week one we touch their toes regularly to acclimatize them to their life as a pet. They also have their noses and toes shaved three times before they are 8 weeks old.
We start house training them by letting them outside regularly so they get used to the process and are beginning to become familiar with it.
Providing healthy puppies is important to us. Our dogs come from health tested bloodlines. For more information about our dogs please click on the bio links on the left side of the page or send us an email with any questions you may have.
